BIG-IP iControl REST vulnerability

The FastL4 virtual server in F5 BIG-IP LTM, AAM, AFM, Analytics, APM, ASM, GTM, Link Controller, and PEM 11.3.0 through 11.5.2 and 11.6.0 through 11.6.0 HF4, BIG-IP Edge Gateway, WebAccelerator, and WOM 11.2.1 through 11.3.0, and BIG-IP PSM 11.2.1 through 11.4.1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (Traffic Management Microkernel restart) via a fragmented packet.

On F5 BIG-IP 16.1.x versions prior to 16.1.2.2, 15.1.x versions prior to 15.1.5.1, 14.1.x versions prior to 14.1.4.6, 13.1.x versions prior to 13.1.5, and all versions of 12.1.x and 11.6.x, directory traversal vulnerabilities exist in undisclosed iControl REST endpoints and TMOS Shell (tmsh) commands in F5 BIG-IP Guided Configuration, which may allow an authenticated attacker with at least resource administrator role privileges to read arbitrary files. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated

The Configuration utility in F5 BIG-IP systems 11.0.x, 11.1.x, 11.2.x before 11.2.1 HF16, 11.3.x, 11.4.x before 11.4.1 HF10, 11.5.x before 11.5.4 HF2, 1.6.x before 11.6.1, and 12.0.0 before HF1 allows remote administrators to read Access Policy Manager (APM) access logs via unspecified vectors.

The iControl REST service in F5 BIG-IP LTM, AAM, AFM, Analytics, APM, ASM, Link Controller, and PEM 11.5.x before 11.5.4, 11.6.x before 11.6.1, and 12.x before 12.0.0 HF3; BIG-IP DNS 12.x before 12.0.0 HF3; BIG-IP GTM 11.5.x before 11.5.4 and 11.6.x before 11.6.1; BIG-IQ Cloud and Security 4.0.0 through 4.5.0; BIG-IQ Device 4.2.0 through 4.5.0; BIG-IQ ADC 4.5.0; BIG-IQ Centralized Management 4.6.0; and BIG-IQ Cloud and Orchestration 1.0.0 allows remote authenticated administrators to obtain sensitive information via unspecified vectors.

On BIG-IP 14.0.0-14.1.0.1, 13.0.0-13.1.1.4, 12.1.0-12.1.4, 11.6.1-11.6.3.4, and 11.5.2-11.5.8, Administrator and Resource Administrator roles might exploit TMSH access to bypass Appliance Mode restrictions on BIG-IP systems.

Buffer overflow in the mcpq daemon in F5 BIG-IP systems 10.x before 10.2.4 HF12, 11.x before 11.2.1 HF15, 11.3.x, 11.4.x before 11.4.1 HF9, 11.5.x before 11.5.2 HF1, and 11.6.0 before HF4, and Enterprise Manager 2.1.0 through 2.3.0 and 3.x before 3.1.1 HF5 allows remote authenticated administrators to cause a denial of service via unspecified vectors.

On BIG-IP 14.0.0-14.1.0.1, 13.0.0-13.1.1.4, 12.1.0-12.1.4, 11.6.1-11.6.3.4, and 11.5.2-11.5.8, users with the Resource Administrator role can modify sensitive portions of the filesystem if provided Advanced Shell Access, such as editing /etc/passwd. This allows modifications to user objects and is contrary to our definition for the Resource Administrator (RA) role restrictions.

On BIG-IP version 16.0.0-16.0.0.1, 15.1.0-15.1.0.5, 14.1.0-14.1.3, and 13.1.0-13.1.3.4, when an authenticated administrative user installs RPMs using the iAppsLX REST installer, the BIG-IP system does not sufficiently validate user input, allowing the user read access to the filesystem.

On F5 BIG-IP 16.1.x versions prior to 16.1.2.2, 15.1.x versions prior to 15.1.5.1, 14.1.x versions prior to 14.1.4.6, 13.1.x versions prior to 13.1.5, and all versions of 12.1.x and 11.6.x, and F5 BIG-IQ Centralized Management all versions of 8.x and 7.x, an authenticated, high-privileged attacker with no bash access may be able to access Certificate and Key files using Secure Copy (SCP) protocol from a remote system. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated

On F5 BIG-IP 13.0.0-13.1.0.5, 12.1.0-12.1.2, or 11.2.1-11.6.3.1, Enterprise Manager 3.1.1, BIG-IQ Centralized Management 5.0.0-5.4.0 or 4.6.0, BIG-IQ Cloud and Orchestration 1.0.0, or F5 iWorkflow 2.0.2-2.3.0, authenticated users granted TMOS Shell (tmsh) access can access objects on the file system which would normally be disallowed by tmsh restrictions. This allows for authenticated, low privileged attackers to exfiltrate objects on the file system which should not be allowed.

BIG-IP TMUI XSS vulnerability

Logic issue in the subsystem for Intel(R) SPS before versions SPS_E5_04.01.04.275.0, SPS_SoC-X_04.00.04.100.0 and SPS_SoC-A_04.00.04.191.0 may allow a privileged user to potentially enable denial of service via local access.

On impacted versions and platforms the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) system integrity check cannot detect modifications to specific system components. This issue only impacts specific engineering hotfixes and platforms. NOTE: This vulnerability does not affect any of the BIG-IP major, minor or maintenance releases you obtained from downloads.f5.com. On an F5 BIG-IP 13.0.0-13.1.0.5, 12.1.0-12.1.3.1, or 11.2.1-11.6.3.1 system configured in Appliance mode, the TMOS Shell (tmsh) may allow an administrative user to use the dig utility to gain unauthorized access to file system resources.

On F5 BIG-IP 13.0.0-13.0.1, 12.1.0-12.1.3.3, 11.6.0-11.6.3.1, or 11.5.1-11.5.6, Enterprise Manager 3.1.1, BIG-IQ Centralized Management 5.0.0-5.1.0, BIG-IQ Cloud and Orchestration 1.0.0, or F5 iWorkflow 2.1.0-2.3.0 the big3d process does not irrevocably minimize group privileges at start up.

On BIG-IP 14.1.0-14.1.0.5, 14.0.0-14.0.0.4, 13.0.0-13.1.1.4, 12.1.0-12.1.4, 11.6.1-11.6.3.4, and 11.5.1-11.5.8, when the BIG-IP system is licensed for Appliance mode, a user with either the Administrator or the Resource Administrator role can bypass Appliance mode restrictions.

On BIG-IP 14.1.0-14.1.0.5, 14.0.0-14.0.0.4, 13.0.0-13.1.1.4, 12.1.0-12.1.4.1, and 11.5.1-11.6.4, when the BIG-IP system is licensed with Appliance mode, user accounts with Administrator and Resource Administrator roles can bypass Appliance mode restrictions.

Incomplete blacklist vulnerability in the Configuration utility in F5 BIG-IP LTM, Analytics, APM, ASM, GTM, Link Controller, and PSM 11.x before 11.2.1 HF11, 11.3.x, 11.4.0 before HF8, and 11.4.1 before HF6; BIG-IP AAM 11.4.0 before HF8 and 11.4.1 before HF6; BIG-IP AFM and PEM 11.3.x, 11.4.0 before HF8, and 11.4.1 before HF6; and BIG-IP Edge Gateway, WebAccelerator, and WOM 11.x before 11.2.1 HF11 and 11.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to upload files via uploadImage.php.

On BIG-IP 11.5.1-11.6.3.4, 12.1.0-12.1.3.7, 13.0.0-13.1.1.3, and 14.0.0-14.0.0.2, when processing certain SNMP requests with a request-id of 0, the snmpd process may leak a small amount of memory.

BIG-IP Configuration utility vulnerability

In BIG-IP 14.0.0-14.0.0.2 or 13.0.0-13.1.1.1, iControl and TMSH usage by authenticated users may leak a small amount of memory when executing commands

In BIG-IP 14.0.0-14.0.0.2, 13.0.0-13.1.0.7, 12.1.0-12.1.3.5, 11.6.1-11.6.3.2, or 11.5.1-11.5.8 or Enterprise Manager 3.1.1, malformed requests to the Traffic Management User Interface (TMUI), also referred to as the BIG-IP Configuration utility, may lead to disruption of TMUI services. This attack requires an authenticated user with any role (other than the No Access role). The No Access user role cannot login and does not have the access level to perform the attack.

A local file vulnerability exists in the F5 BIG-IP Configuration utility on versions 13.0.0, 12.1.0-12.1.2, 11.6.1-11.6.3.1, 11.5.1-11.5.5, or 11.2.1 that exposes files containing F5-provided data only and do not include any configuration data, proxied traffic, or other potentially sensitive customer data.

On all versions of 17.0.x, 16.1.x, 15.1.x, 14.1.x, 13.1.x, 12.1.x, and 11.6.x on F5 BIG-IP, an authenticated iControl REST user with at least guest role privileges can cause processing delays to iControl REST requests via undisclosed requests. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated

The automatic signature update functionality in the (1) Phone Home feature in F5 BIG-IP LTM, AAM, AFM, Analytics, APM, GTM, and Link Controller 11.5.0 through 11.6.0, ASM 10.0.0 through 11.6.0, and PEM 11.3.0 through 11.6.0 and the (2) Call Home feature in ASM 10.0.0 through 11.6.0 and PEM 11.3.0 through 11.6.0 does not properly validate server SSL certificates, which allows remote attackers to conduct man-in-the-middle attacks via a crafted certificate.

In version 15.1.0-15.1.0.5, 14.1.0-14.1.3, 13.1.0-13.1.3.4, 12.1.0-12.1.5.2, and 11.6.1-11.6.5.2 of BIG-IP DNS, GTM, and Link Controller, zxfrd leaks memory when listing DNS zones. Zones can be listed via TMSH, iControl or SNMP; only users with access to those services can trigger this vulnerability.

On F5 BIG-IP DNS 13.1.0-13.1.0.7, 12.1.3-12.1.3.5, DNS Express / DNS Zones accept NOTIFY messages on the management interface from source IP addresses not listed in the 'Allow NOTIFY From' configuration parameter when the db variable "dnsexpress.notifyport" is set to any value other than the default of "0".

On BIG-IP versions 15.0.0-15.0.1.1, 14.1.0-14.1.2.2, 14.0.0-14.0.1, 13.1.0-13.1.3.1, 12.1.0-12.1.5, and 11.5.2-11.6.5 and BIG-IQ versions 6.0.0-6.1.0 and 5.2.0-5.4.0, a user is able to obtain the secret that was being used to encrypt a BIG-IP UCS backup file while sending SNMP query to the BIG-IP or BIG-IQ system, however the user can not access to the UCS files.

In versions 16.0.0-16.0.0.1 and 15.1.0-15.1.1, on specific BIG-IP platforms, attackers may be able to obtain TCP sequence numbers from the BIG-IP system that can be reused in future connections with the same source and destination port and IP numbers. Only these platforms are affected: BIG-IP 2000 series (C112), BIG-IP 4000 series (C113), BIG-IP i2000 series (C117), BIG-IP i4000 series (C115), BIG-IP Virtual Edition (VE).

On versions 16.0.x before 16.0.1.1, 15.1.x before 15.1.2.1, 14.1.x before 14.1.4, 13.1.x before 13.1.3.6, 12.1.x before 12.1.5.3, and 11.6.x before 11.6.5.3, the upload functionality in BIG-IP Advanced WAF and BIG-IP ASM allows an authenticated user to upload files to the BIG-IP system using a call to an undisclosed iControl REST endpoint. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Software Development (EoSD) are not evaluated.
